Co-Therapy KAP

At times, it may be appropriate for a patient to have two clinicians in the room with them during their dosing session. The “dyad” model of psychedelic therapy is common in clinical trials, and is thought to bring an added layer of support and, at times, effectiveness to the treatment by providing a more robust container.

This option might be best for those with a history of trauma, who are working on attachment disruptions, or for any reason would feel safer and more comfortable if a team were with them. This team will often consist of two members of Psych3, but under some circumstances could involve one member of Psych3 with a clinician from your regular care team.

Flow of Treatment

> Medical and Psychological Intake

> Preparation Sessions (50 minutes each)

> KAP sessions (3 hours each) number of sessions varies by client

> Integration Sessions (50 minutes) after each dosing session

Range of dosing

The depth of experience during a KAP session is shaped largely by dosing level, and each tier opens the door to different kinds of therapeutic work.

At lower doses, clients typically remain grounded and present, often noticing a gentle loosening of mental defenses alongside feelings of calm, connectedness, and emotional openness. This level can also carry mood-lifting and anxiety-reducing effects, making it well-suited to active reflection and verbal processing with your therapy team.

Moderate doses tend to produce a more pronounced shift. Potentially including a sense of floating outside the body, or watching oneself from a slight distance. Many clients describe their sense of self beginning to expand beyond its usual boundaries, opening space for new perspective on long-held patterns or beliefs. At this level of dosing verbal exchange and active processing tends to lessen during the peak of the medicine. Your team will help you navigate any challenges that arise and create a safe container for you to explore your inner world. Occasionally it may be hard to recall the full experience afterward, it can feel like waking from a dream. Your team will take notes to help you remember details of the journey during integration.

At higher doses, the sense of body and surroundings can dissolve almost entirely, giving way to transpersonal or mystical experiences. Patients often describe these experiences as touching something larger than themselves. This level of dosing can help by deepening a sense of interconnection with the world and may help address existential level challenges. In these sessions your care team will help guide you into the medicine space, keep you safe while your consciousness is exapanded, and help you reorient as you land back in your body.
